A world masters champion for the 70-plus decathlon, Shaw broke more Centre records for his class at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Flora Hill.

A clearance of 1.42 metres at high jump is now the Centre record for the 70-plus division.

Shaw ran a record-breaking 31.24 in the fourth of the 200m heats in which the wind reading was -0.9.

A great afternoon for Eaglehawk sprinter Kye Mason included a hard-fought victory in the first of the 200m heats in 22.82 as South Bendigo’s Jake Hilson was runner-up in 22.90.

Mason dominated his 100m heat in a slick 11.36 seconds.

Fastest in the women’s 200m was Bendigo University’s Jorja Van Den Berg in 28.19.

Other heat winners were South Bendigo clubmates Scarlet Southern and Carol Coad.

The in-form Barb Bryant walked to another victory in the 1500m duel in 8:40.41.

Jake Hilson marked another fine win in the first of the 800m heats in 2:04.04, as clubmate Arshdeep Singh and Peter Curtis, Bendigo Harriers’ Ian Wellard, University’s Tanner Fear, and Eaglehawk’s Kevin Shanahan were victorious in other contests.

Isaac Everett from Bendigo Harriers marked his return to LUBAC with victory in the 3000m in 10:58.54.

In the field events, Olivia and Craig Graham ruled the hammer throw as they achieved distances of 45.19m and 33.41m.

Eaglehawk’s Denise Snyder cleared 1.70m at high jump, and South Bendigo’s Jack McKenzie did well to soar above 1.60m.

A highlight at triple jump was the duel between Denise Snyder, 10.97m, and South Bendigo’s rising star Zackery Tickell, 9.83m, in the second of three flights.

Best at shot put were Harriers’ clubmates Jemuel Pryse, 11.62m, and MacKenzie Cooper, 11.37m.

Pryse hurled the discus to 36.36m as Eaglehawk veteran and Bendigo region general manager Terry Hicks reached the 32.80m mark.

Best for the women at discus were Snyder and Olivia Graham on 25.65 and 24.44 respectively.
